Mike’s ultra-challenge will help theatre fund

Two of my favourite things combine in a challenge being undertaken this spring (April 2026) – running and theatre.

Mike Morgan will run the Wild Horse 200 ultramarathon across South Wales from Chepstow to Worm’s Head on the Gower Peninsula to raise funds for Cardiff’s Sherman Theatre Creative Engagement programme.

He aims to raise £5,000 to set up a bursary to help people who may be struggling financially to take part in the Sherman’s Youth Theatre, Sherman Players and Sherman Makers programmes.

Mike himself has performed in several Sherman Theatre productions, including the wonderful Odyssey ’84, which I reviewed for Rhiwbina Info in 2024.

Mike said: “I’m running 200 miles for the Sherman Theatre because of the incredible opportunities they’ve given me, and now I want to help pass that on.

“The Sherman is a remarkable place – it brings people together, nurtures young talent, and makes the arts accessible to everyone. My goal is ensuring that everyone has the chance to engage creatively, regardless of financial barriers.”
